Noel Bastarache
Noël Bastarache, 81, of Churchill Street, Moncton, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2001, at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born December 23, 1919, in Saint-Maurice, NB, he was the son of the late Arsène Bastarache and the late Emilienne Cormier. He was employed 35 years with CN before his retirement. He served overseas with Carlton-York Regiment during W.W. II, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Moncton Branch No. 6, a member of the Liberal Association and attended Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Roman Catholic Church (Parkton).
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Nélida (Richard) Bastarache; two daughters, Marie-Paule Doucet (Bill), and Thérèse Leger, both of Moncton; four sisters, Elmire Maillet (Laurie) of St-Norbert, Rita LeBlanc (Alban) of Scoudouc, Loudia Bourque (Willie) of Cocagne, Andréa Robichaud (Alfred) of St-Antoine; seven brothers, Prémélite (Viola) and Ulysse (Sue), both of St-Maurice, Régis (Irene) and Sylvio (Andréa), both of Bouctouche, Laurie (Stella) of Bellingham, Mass., Raoul (Marie) of Waltham, Mass., Aldéi (Avis) of Calais, Me.; four grandchildren, Nancy, Nicole, Kara, Walter; several nices and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Médard; a grand-daughter, Michelle; a brother, Lorenzo; and a half-brother, Gérard Savoie.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Frenette, Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 20, 2001, at 11 am at Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Roman Catholic Church (Parkton). Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Dieppe. The Royal Canadian Legion, Moncton Branch No. 6 will hold a legion service Friday evening at 7 pm from the funeral home.
