    DEMPSEY, Donald Kenneth -
    64, Harrietsfield, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 1997, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site, after a brief illness. Born in Herring Cove, he was a son of the late John T. and Mariam (Sampson) Dempsey (Sampsons Cove). He was an avid hunter, dart player and pool player. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Spryfield Branch. Surviving are his wife, Madeline (Misener); son, Donald (Dempsey) Manning, Dartmouth; Kevin Dempsey, Vancouver; Brian Dempsey, Dartmouth; daughters, Debra Bruce, Kathy Wakunick, both of Dartmouth; Marlene Snow, Halifax; Brenda Dempsey, Harrietsfield; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Graves) Dempsey, daughter-in-law, Joanne (Peddle) Dempsey; granddaughters, Ashley, Erin; grandson, Travis; granddaughters, Kelly, Crystal, Candice, Rebecca, Katelyn; grandsons, John (Wakunick) Dempsey, John T. Dempsey, Andrew Morris; sisters, Grace Dempsey, Portland, Ore.; Lenore Brown, Vancouver; Jean Leger, Riverview, N.B.; Trudy Norton, Vancouver. He was predeceased by brothers, Bill, Jack, Gerald, Brian, Jimmy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 1-2 p.m., memorial service 2 p.m., both Friday, January 18, in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Reception to follow in the funeral home reception lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations to the VG Foundation.

    Olivier Leger St. Mary, Kent, Co., March 5 -
    Olivier Leger, an aged and highly esteemed resident of St. Mary, passed away recently of heart trouble after three months illness. Mr. Leger was 85 years old. He is survived by seven sons, Alban, at home; Philias, Gardner, Mass.; Amedee, Waltham, Mass.; Honore and Andre, St. Mary; Joseph, Buctouche, and Irenee, Cocagne; three daughters, Mrs. Albert Melanson, (Marie), and Miss Armanda, both of Cocagne Bar and Mrs. Alyre Collette, (Germaine), Leominster, Mass.; three brothers, Edmond and Dominique Leger, St. Anthony, Kent County, and Philip O. Leger, Moncton, and a sister, Mrs. Placide Caissie, Notre Dame, Kent County. The funeral, largely attended was held at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the pastor, Rev. Father Napoleon Landry, singing a high mass of requiem. The pallbearers were four sons, Joseph, Andre, Irenee and Alban and two grandsons, Edmond Melanson and Alphe Melanson.

    Mrs. Olivier Cormier -
    The death occurred last evening at the family home 129 Dominion St., of Mrs. Julianna Cormier, beloved wife of Mr. Olivier Cormier, well known C.N.R. shops employee. Her passing came about 8.30 following an illness of six days duration and she will be mourned by a large circle of relatives and friends. The deceased was 48 years of age and was born at St. Anthony, Kent County, being before her marriage Miss Julianna Breau, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo Breau, of that place. She had resided in the city for many years and was a highly respected member of L'Assomption Church and one of the branches of L'Assomption Society. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn their loss seven sons and two daughters. The sons are Hector and Alphonse, employees of Moncton Fish Market; Adelard, Alfred, Edward, Bernard and Lloyd, all at home. The daughters are Lena, of T. Eaton Co.'s staff, and Edna, student at St. Joseph Convent; Memramcook. One brother, Urbain Breau, of St. Anthony, and six sisters also survive. The sisters are Mrs. Phillip Leger, Moncton; Mrs. Edward Cormier, Notre Dame; Mrs. Lalice Leger, St. Anthony; Mrs. Joseph Leger, Renault's Mills, Kent County; Mrs. Pierre Girouard, Fisherville, Mass., and Mrs. Fred M. Leger, Renaud's Mills. The funeral will be held Saturday morning from the family home to L'Assomption Church for solemn high mass of requiem, after which the body will be taken by the Buctouche train to St. Anthony, where interment will be made on Sunday afternoon.
