The many friends of Henry M. Leger will regret to learn of his death, which occurred quite unexpectedly at his home in Humphreys early yesterday morning. Mr. Legere had not been in good health for several days and on Saturday afternoon took a turn for the worse. Even then hope was held for his recovery but he gradually sank until his death which occurred Sunday morning at three o'clock. Highly esteemed and respected by a wide circle of friends, the news of his passing will be received with deep regret. The late Mr. Legere was 78 years of age and had lived practically his entire life in Humphreys where he was an active figure in community welfare work and especially in church circles. Born in Memramcook, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Maximin Legere, the deceased removed to Humphreys when a young man and entered the employ of L. B. Lockhart & Sons, Limited, as a member of the sawmill staff. He remained with the firm throughout the years until ill health forced him to retire about six years ago. He was a loyal and faithful employee and was held in high esteem by his associated and his superior officers. Mr. Legere was very prominent in church circles of the community in which he lived. He was one of the founders of St. Louis de France Church, was an active worker, prominent in all the societies of the chuch and at different times held all the high offices of the L'Assomption and Artisan societies. He will be greatly missed in the various societies of the parish and his death leaves a void that will indeed be difficult to fill. The late Mr. Legere is survived by two sons and one daughter. The sons are Peter G. Legere, of Milford, Mass., and Charles S. Legere, at home, and the daughter is Mary Legere, also at home. Two brothers, Joseph Legere, of Memramcook, and Thadee Legere, of Lewisville, and one sister, Mrs. William Cormier, of Amherst, N. S., also survive. His wife predeceased him by eight years. The funeral will take place Tuesday morning with service in St. Louis de France Church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Roman Catholic cemetery, Shediac Road.
