Biographical information / Informations biographiques

'Born May 10, 1914 in Cape Bald, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the sod of Fidel and Sarah Vautour, and lived most of his life in Fitchburg.

Mr. Leger was a mill supervisor at the former Fitchburg Yarn Co. for many years, retiring in 1983. He was later a crossing guard for the Fitchburg School Department and for St. Joseph's School

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European-Middle Eastern and Asian-Pacific theaters. He received a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, and a Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Mr. Leger was a member of St. Joseph's Church and a former member of the St. Joseph's School Parent-Teacher Association. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Fitchburg Chapter, and a former member of the American Legion, Cleghorn Post 429. He was also a member of the Fitchburg Friendship Club and the Senior Citizens Booster Club. He was once an assistant Scoutmaster for the Boys Scouts of America, Troop 17.'
