Harold E. Normandin, 83

Former longtime Fitchburg papermaker; was a pilot

FITCHBURG -- Harold E. Normandin, 83, of 407 Shea St., died Friday morning, April 14, in Leominster Hospital, after a long illness.

Born April 9, 1907, in Holyoke, he was the son of Romuald and Eva (Domingue) Normandin. He had lived in Fitchburg since 1925.

Mr. Normandin was a papermaker for many years at the former Crocker-Burbank Paper Co. and the former Fitchburg Paper Co. He later worked at the former Converter Corp. in Leominster, retiring in 1971. After retirement, he worked part-time at the Roberts Chrysler automobile dealership on Water Street.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church and a former member of Grand View Country Club in Leominster. He had a private pilot's license and enjoyed flying.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Loretta (Maguy) Normandin; two sisters, Theresa M. Charron and Claire M. Leger, both of Fitchburg; nephews and nieces.

A daughter, Annette Normandin, died in 1955.

The funeral will be held Monday with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St.
