ROBINS, Frances Catherine "Kay" —
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Kay, on May 13,2010, in St. Vincent's Nursing Home in Halifax, surrounded by her loved ones, after battling alzheimer disease and cancer. Born on June 3, 1927, she was a daughter of James and Elizabeth (Connors) Gillespie. After raising her family, and many years of volunteering for various organizations, Kay began working in the Communications Department at the V.G. Hospital, where she remained until her retirement in 1992. However, the role she treasured most in her life was as grandmother to eight beautiful children, and cherished the time spent with them. They have truly lost one of their most loving fans. She is survived and will be forever missed by her sister, Anne Leger of Dartmouth; brother-in-law, Alex Maclssac, Brooklyn; her sons, James and Kevin (Katie) of Halifax; daughters, Joanne (Jack) Le Fort, Halifax and Carol Anne, Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Debra Robins of Leominster, Mass.; grandchildren, Abraham Robins, Ryan and Benjamin Le Fort, Bridget, Connor, and Marion Robins, Maria and Miranda Robins, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank and sister, Joan Maclssac. We will never forget the care and compassion of the 5th floor staff at St. Vincent's Nursing Home. You are real heroes in our eyes. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Mary's Bascillica, Spring Garden Road, Halifax Wednesday May 19, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Healing and Cancer Foundation, Dickson Building Rm 2025; Nova Scotia Cancer Centre, 5820 University Ave., Halifax, NS B3P, 1V7, or on-line at: www.canada-helps.org/DonationDetails.aspx
